Vein Care

 

 

  • Enlarged of dilated veins, typically found in legs

  • Occur when the valves in the superficial veins malfunction

  • Causes blood that should be moving toward the heart to move backward

  • As the blood moves backward and pools in the vein, the pressure pushes at the veins walls, eventually stretching out the vein, giving it the rope-like, twisted appearance

Initial Screening

  • Examination of the affected leg(s) to determine if you have spider veins or are a possible candidate for varicose vein treatment

  • Discussion of your symptoms, history, and a possible treatment plan

  • Appointment generally takes between 15-20 minutes

Diagnostic Ultrasound

  • The first step in the evaluation of varicose veins is a diagnostic ultrasound

  • The study examines the superficial veins responsible for the development of varicosities and evaluates for reflux

  • Ultrasound provides a map for treatment

Consultation

  • Immediately following your ultrasound, we will consult with you regarding the results, your symptoms, and discuss the options for treatment of varicose veins

  • Treatments include EVLT, sclerotherapy and ambulatory phlebectomy
