This year we are celebrating 10 years of excellence! Since 2009, we have been the go-to service for people struggling with the pain of varicose veins in the Chippewa Valley. Thank you to everyone who has been with us on this 10-year journey!

The Chippewa Valley Vein Center has been serving the Eau Claire region since 2009. At the Chippewa Valley Vein Center, we provide comprehensive care in treatment for varicose veins and spider veins. Our minimally invasive therapies allow safe and effective treatment of vein varicosities, all without the need for painful surgery! Located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, our Interventional Radiologists perform minimally invasive procedures to treat a variety of medical conditions.

As Featured in the 2019 Newsletter from the Wisconsin Radiological Society:

One of the highest honors the ACR can bestow on a member in good standing is recognition as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology.

ACR Fellows demonstrate a history of service to the College, organized radiology, teaching, and/or research. Only 10 percent of College members have been awarded this honor. Fellowship is awarded to diagnostic radiologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, medical physicists, and nuclear medicine physicians at the Convocation held during the ACR annual meeting. Every year the Wisconsin Radiological Society nominates candidates to the ACR. The degree of Fellow of the American College of Radiology (FACR) has been conferred on the following Wisconsin radiologists who have been approved and elected by the ACR Board of Chancellors:

Fellow: Peter Hanson, MD

Dr. Hanson is a Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist with Medical X-Ray Consultants in Eau Claire, WI where he has practiced since 2001. Peter completed medical school at the University of Iowa. Residency was at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT where he was elected Chief Resident. An interventional radiology fellowship was completed at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Peter has been involved in the leadership of the WRS since 2013 when he was elected as a Director at Large. Since that time he has served as Alternate Councilor, Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President, and currently President-Elect. He will start as WRS president after the WRS Spring Meeting this year. In addition, Peter is involved in medical governance on a local level currently serving as Chair of the Department of Radiology at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, member of the Medical Executive Committee, Medical Staff Vice-President, member of the Performance Improvement Committee, and a member of the Quality Care Committee.

Our own Dr. Peter Hanson, a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, is the 2019/2020 President of the Wisconsin Radiological Society Board of Directors.

According to WRS, its mission is to work on “advancing the science of radiology, improving radiologic service to patients and the medical community, and studying the economics of radiology; the encouragement of improved and continuing education for radiologists; and the establishment and maintenance of high medical and ethical standards in the practice of radiology.”

WRS also advocates for the following in Wisconsin and the nation, according to www.wi-rad.org:

Working with Medicare and private insurance groups to insure appropriate utilization and reimbursement of imaging services

Working with State Legislators to ensure a stable liability climate in Wisconsin

Bringing together and enhancing dialogue between Wisconsin radiologists

Monitoring State Legislative initiatives to protect imaging services for patients and physicians

Participating in ACR committees and initiatives at the national level

Convening a state-wide meeting of Wisconsin Radiologists in April with presentations on legislative issues, medical education and practice management

National Doctor’s Day is a day to celebrate physicians and the wonderful work they do for patients each and every day. We want to thank Dr. Hanson, Dr. Tham, and Dr. Whitis for their dedication to helping our friends and neighbors in the Chippewa Valley.

Dr. Hanson says that he enjoys using his skills as a doctor to diagnose the conditions affecting his patients and then deliver the most optimal treatment. “It is very gratifying to help patients understand the cause of their symptoms, effectively treat them, and then watch them improve to live a better life.”

According to Dr. Tham, “I appreciate the opportunity to improve the lives of my patients in a meaningful and impactful way.”
